It is heard that Rahul Gandhi reportedly wants those who aspire to contest elections on Congress ticket to fill a five-page application form which tests their knowledge about the constituency. This is a rather unusual approach but then Rahul is reportedly confident that this method will work better for him.
Sources say that the Congress vice-president and the party’s number 2, has reportedly devised the new application system to ensure that party heavyweights and regional satraps don’t play middlemen in the crucial task of finding the right candidate to contest each seat.
The form reportedly asks the aspirant to detail previous experience at contesting elections and by what margin they won or lost. In the months before polls, the party’s regional and central headquarters are crowded with hopefuls lining up to present their case and it has to be now seen whether Rahul can really create any impact or change with his approach!
