Contonment MLA P Shankar Rao’s daughter Sushmita alleged that a sub-inspector has tried to kill her father on the hospital premises on Sunday night.

As per Sushmita’s version, a sub-inspector entered the ICU at Care Hospital where Shankar Rao has been undergoing treatment at about 8pm. Hearing some noise, the MLA became alert when the cop was approaching him to harm him. Shankar Rao called out aloud to alert the hospital staff and the police fled from the spot immediately. Soon after this incident, MLA made a call to his daughter on the phone and she rushed to the hospital.

Sushmita is now planning to lodge a complaint with higher officials and confident that the CCTV Cameras installed in the hospital can identify the SI who tried to kill her father. She demanded adequate security to Shankar Rao citing life threat.

On the other hand, Police officials opined Shankar Rao and his daughter might have mistook the cop on duty for assailant. ACP Venkat Narsaiah clarified that the allegations are false and the SI has gone to ICU only to check on the MLA after taking the charge at 8pm.
