The ongoing issue of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa convicted to jail has sparked a furor in her state. But amidst this, one touching issue is also observed. It is about Jaya’s ‘Shadow’. Well, we are referring to Sasikala Natarajan who stood through Jaya’s thick and thin as her shadow for the past 32 years.
Now, Sasikala has accompanied Jaya in prison as well. It was in 1982 when Sasi was introduced to Jaya through IAS officer V S Chandralekha. Since then, she stuck loyally to Jaya. For that matter, she also separated from her relatives and husband for a while to be with Jaya. In that process, she amassed huge wealth.
Only in three instances, Sasi got separated from Jaya. In 1995-96 ED arrested Sasi on charges of corruption in the JJTV equipment export case. In 1996 May during elections, Jaya herself sent Sasi away from her home. A similar incident happened in 2011 when Sasi was sent away along with 11 relatives from Jaya’s home. Common friend of Jaya-Sasi reveals that Jayalalithaa is a very tough person to be friends with but Sasi has overcome all those challenges and stuck to her. But if Sasi has been charged Rs 10 crores penalty, one can imagine the kind of money she has made with this loyalty.
