In a rare occurrence which may cause worries in the TRS camp, sources say that the warring Congress factions of former firebrand state minister DK Aruna and union minister S Jaipal Reddy reportedly came together to put up a show of unity.
All candidates in Mahboobnagar district including Jaipal Reddy, who filed nomination from Mahboobnagar seat, and their followers reportedly met at the residence of MLC S Jagadeswar Reddy recently and decided to work unitedly and work to wrest the two LS seats and at least 10 Assembly seats out of 13 in this district. Earlier, Aruna opposed Jaipal’s entry and also the union minister’s efforts to secure Assembly tickets to his men and even Jaipal never bothered to consult local party leaders about his intention to contest from Mahbubnagar instead of Chevella which he represents now.
Sources say that the meeting was organised on the instructions of Congress president Sonia Gandhi with surveys that since KCR has opted out of the district, the TRS will be marginalized in the district.
