Jackie Chan ‘finally’ wins his first Oscar

At the 8th annual Governors awards, held in Los Angeles, California, the China-born actor was bestowed with Oscar Honorary award. His ‘Rush Hour’ co-star Chris Tucker presented the prestigious award to Chan. Sully star Tom Hanks referred Jackie as ‘Chantastic’ and appraised his contribution to cinema. His martial arts work and action has got him millions of fans worldwide and Chan is a global star.

The 62-year Jackie Chan has dreamt of Oscars ever since he was a budding actor and he decided to have one when he first saw an Oscar at his friend and Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone’s home, 23 years ago. Fans of Jackie are certainly celebrating this moment as it’s the first Oscar for him.

Speaking on the occasion, the actor thanked his nation (China) and home town Hong Kong for continuous support over the decades and promised to continue making window-breaking action movies that leave him injured.

Other actors who received honorary award from The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences are British film editor Anne V Coates (90), casting director Lynn Stalmaster (88) and a noted documentarian Frederick Wiseman (86).
