Cyclonic storm Hudhud has paralysed the normal life on Sunday in Vizag, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Regular life was thrown completely out of gear as the winds with a speed of 170 Kmph to 180 Kmph struck the coastal districts. It triggered heavy downpour causing major damage to coconut, paddy and cashew-nut crops in the region.
However, government’s timely act and strong rescue measures prevented major loss of human lives. Government officials have evacuated over 90,000 people and provided shelter to them in relief camps. Going by reports, total 5 persons were killed in both Andhra Pradesh and Orissa due to havoc caused by Hudhud. As per the available information so far, only two people were died in Vizag and Srikakulam in two rain-related incidents.
