Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has made it clear that Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be given powers as mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act 2013 and apparently said that there is “no question of backtracking” on it.

A team of Telangana MPs have met Rajnath Singh on Thursday in New Delhi and raised their concern over giving “special” powers to Governor Narsimhan in Law and Order. Reacting on it, Rajnath told them, “Governor will be given special powers only as per the law and he too obeys the law and act according to it only. At the same time, the powers of Chief Minister remain the same. Due to special circumstances prevailing in the region, Governor is given the powers. And there is no loss to Telangana government in any way. Union Government will constantly monitor the situation and will take appropriate decisions on time.”
