Call it a sheer coincidence or destiny as the circumstances prevailed today in the successor state of Andhra Pradesh are more or less similar to that of 1952 when Andhra Kesari’ Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. Mr Praksam Pantulu did not have a capital or a secretariat or even vehicles when new Andhra State was carved out of Tamil Nadu. Recalling his valuable services, relentless effort behind building new Andhra state, TDP government has declared his birth anniversary as the State Festival just like Bonalu, Bathukamma for Telangana State.
Commemorating Praksam Pantulu’s 142nd birth anniversary (Aug 23) celebrations after paying floral tributes and garlanding his statue on Saturday, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu said, “Prakasam Pantulu was above nepotism and personal corruption and delivered good governance. We have to work in the spirit of Prakasam Pantulu to rebuild the new Andhra Pradesh from the scratch.”
Meanwhile, Naidu has decided to name airprot at Rajahmundry after Andhra Kesari Tangaturi Prakasam Pantulu. The airport being renovated and developed at Rajahmundry, will get theis privilege. This airport is coming up as part of the program to have 14 airports in the new state, including one in East Godavari district.
