Ever since he was sent to the district jail on remand, Akbar has been frequently complaining of stomachache. When the district judge visited the jail to inspect conditions prevailing there, Akbar took the occasion to complain of stomachache. The judge immediately directed prison authorities to call doctors. Doctors of the RIMS who visited the prison and examined Akbar told him that the stomachache was only due to indigestion. They gave medicines and prescribed an easily digestible meal that included fruit juices. From then on, Akbar was being served the diet prescribed by the doctors.
On Friday Akbar has once again complained of stomachache and was taken to the RIMS hospital.
Doctors who examined him reportedly told the police that there was nothing wrong with the MLA. Akbar created a scene in the hospital by demanding to see his medical reports and refusing to leave the hospital. Police and prison authorities had to forcefully take him back to the jail.
Police are doubting that Akbar was faking illness to escape the jail and go to the comfort of a corporate hospital and relax. His lawyers have already tried to have him shifted to a corporate hospital in the court and failed.
