Reliance is having its share of troubles with the launch of Jio services in India, but existing players are coming up with new plans to keep their user base intact. Vodafone India, for instance, launched new plans under Vodafone Red, which offer more benefits for its postpaid customers.

Vodafone Red now has six new plans, starting for as low as Rs. 499 and goes up to Rs. 1,999 per month. The all-in-one postpaid plans for the high value customers, who consume calls, data and SMS on a regular basis, give freedom of choice to subscribers based on their requirements.

The entry-level Vodafone Red postpaid plans at Rs. 499, Rs. 699 and Rs. 999 per month come with double data benefits, attractive talk-time and 500 SMS. The high-end plans at Rs. 1,699 and Rs. 1,999 per month offer unlimited calling, free roaming and 500 SMS. The costlier plan gives 8GB of data while the one below that offers 6GB of data each month.

“The postpaid customer’s usage behaviour has evolved significantly with higher usage of roaming and data. With the new Vodafone RED, there is no more holding back- we are offering our postpaid customers an all-in-one plan that addresses their roaming, data, and voice needs comprehensively. The built in quotas with value added benefits like priority access and a virtual relationship manager, make the Vodafone RED experience truly worry free and delightful,” Sandeep Kataria, director – commercial, Vodafone India, said in a statement.

The latest plans by Vodafone India are a part of ongoing efforts to sustain the carrier-war, which was started by Reliance Jio earlier this year. Ever since Reliance started testing its high-speed Jio 4G networks with the public by offering them free 90-day trial and hopes of cheap plans thereafter, the telecom industry has been on the edge.

Major telecom operators in the country, such as Airtel, Idea and Vodafone, have reduced data tariffs by up to 67 percent in the last month. Other offers such as unlimited calling and roaming have been proposed to counter the Reliance Jio dominance.
Reliance Jio’s commercial roll-out is still underway and it is expected to fully launch its services across India by the end of this year. This only means that the consumers are in for some more offers in the coming weeks and months.
