Andhra Pradesh chief minister N.Chandrababu Naidu has rolled out plans to attract IT, tourism and film companies to make port city of Visakhapatnam as a major information technology and film industry and tourist hub. A strategy paper conceived by the a special task force set up by AP CM has submitted a program which could provide jobs to over 20,000 people directly and another 50, 000 indirectly in IT, tourism and film sectors with an investment of nearly Rs.15.000 crore. On Naidu’s initiative Tech Mahindra and Wipro have opted for IT SEZ’s in port city. Both Tech Mahindra, Wipro, TCS besides Dell and Deloitte have plans to set up satellite units all along the eastern coastal corridor in small towns like Anakapally, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Nellore and Tirupati.

‘All these  units aim to absorb  the engineering graduates from these towns and give them’ says spokesman of IT& C department of AP government. The corridor also aims to attract Bengali and Odiya filmmakers apart from Tollywood filmmakers by exploiting the picturesque locales like Araku. Two Tollywood studio owners have come forward to invest and set up studios on the outskirts of Vizag, say officials.
