Vidyasagar Rao as Maharastra Governor

BJP senior leader and former Karimnagar MP and Minister of state in the home Ministry in NDA-1 Ch Vidyasagar Rao has been nominated as the Governor of Maharashtra. His appointment as Governor has come as a great surprise to many though Vidyasagar Rao is known as a close associate of Narender Modi for almost two decades.

Rao hailing from a strong political family of Karimnagar district was instrumental and influential leader from the Velama community who shaped the BJP in the Telangana region. Incidentally he is the younger brother of Channamaneni Rajeswar Rao, a prominent Communist leader and also uncle of Channamaneni Ramesh, a German returned MLA of the TRS party now.

Rao’s family has set up a Channamaneni foundation and taken up education, healthcare and drinking water programs in several villages and towns of Karimnagar in and around Siricilla region. During the NDA-1 the senior BJP leader V Rama Rao was the Governor of Mizoram .NDA had promoted veteran Satyanarayana Reddy as Governor of Uttar Pradesh.The only other governors from AP were P S Ramamohan Rao (ex-DGP) and now K Rosaiah.
