Trade Report: Sai Gets Flying Start

Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham: Nephew of Pawan Kalyan and Chiru, actor Sai Dharam Tej proved his detractors wrong as he is off to a flying start with his debut ‘PNLJ’ raked in more than Rs 2 crore on day 1 (Nizam 85, Andhra 90 lakh and Ceded 45 Lakh) living up to the legacy of Chiru family. The light-hearted action film laced with Sai’s pranks, his dancing prowess and pretty Regina adding to glam quotient worked in big time for the film. Though, not a novel script, but tactful screenplay sustained audience interest and it’s bound to pick up fast.

Erra Bus:
Promoted as a family drama revolving around an educated grandson and old-fashioned grandpa had a sedate start and nearly made 1 Crore on day 1 and it will take time to catch up, since its not a regular heroism-centric movie. Vishnu underplays and impresses as a lovable IT guy but Dasari could have restrained his performance a bit, with mixed reviews and response, it should attract family audience, to change gears at the box office.

Brother of Bommali: Despite sparkling performance by Allari Naresh and Karthika and others, the film managed to cover 1.6 crore in the first week and lack of good promotion, is dampening its collections, “Only aggressive promotion could save its fortune” adds source. Will Allari Naresh who is also producer will spent money, to change its fortune, we have to wait and see..

Joru: After opening on a positive note, the much-much-hyped entertainer “Joru” is losing its grounds and just managed to make 1.7 core (Nizam 50 lakh, Andhra 60 lakh, Ceded 30 lakh and other 20 lakh) in first week and if collections doesn’t pick up, it would cause big losses for distributors who bought for big sums. Sundeep tries to salvage a poorly-etched role and Brahmi adds a spark, but three pretty girls, turn out thanda, to affect its collections. .

Karthikeya: Surely, murder mystery of director Chandoo had established that T-town viewer are game for ‘novel themes’ and spun box office magic with “Karthikeya” as it garnered Rs. 7.5 crore and revived the winning streak of actor Nikhil.

Meanwhile Oka Laila Kosam and Pooja, reached safe zones.
