National award winning director Bala, known for his torture on artists to extract natural performance, has almost signed vanishing Shriya Saran for his next flick. Tentatively titled ‘Karakattam’, this movie deals with Tamil folk dance that goes by the same name. But it looks like Bala finally wanted to cast a Tamil lady for this native-role, and zeroed on senior hero Sarathkumar’s daughter Varalakshmi, dashing Shriya’s hopes of making it big in South again. Also, Varalakshmi is also a trained dancer and already an expert in the native Tamil dance.
Literally after starring with Vikram in Mallanna, she never got any big role or big film to strengthen her position. Other than a couple of unreleased films including ‘Manam’ in Telugu, Shriya is almost out of opportunities.
