A day after Aam Aadmi Party suffered a massive defeat in Delhi Municipal polls, the ‘Aam Aadmi’ of India will take off Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream – ‘UDAN’. That means even the lower-middle class citizens of this nation will be able to travel in domestic flights at very low-fares.

With a view to bring national flight travels more dear to the common people of India, Prime Minister Modi is officially launching a new scheme called ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik’ (UDAN) on Thursday. This ambitious national policy, aimed at connecting smaller towns at cheap air rates, has been subject of discussion even since aviation ministry announced it in June last year.

Under UDAN scheme, the lowest airfare is priced at 2,500 INR and ticket rates are subjected to change based on travel time. Calling it first-of-its-kind global scheme, Prime Minister Office said ‘this move will apparently encourage local connectivity.’

On 27th April, Narendra Modi will flag off the first UDAN flight from Shimla to Delhi at Jubbarhatti airport, Shimla and also, he is scheduled to inaugurate the Kadapa-Hyderabad and Nanded-Hyderabad flights too. The five airlines that are part of UDAN scheme are Spice Jet, Air Odisha, Airline Allied Services, Air Deccan and Turbo Megha.

Narendra Modi’s decision to make air travel cheaper for Aam Aadmi is another sign of his approach to make India great.
