Telugu Heroes – Who is Top & Who is Flop in 2012

Posted : December 29, 2012 at 5:49 pm IST by ManaTeluguMovies
It is very rare to see few heroes scoring their career best hits in same year. This year something like that happened and even those heroes who were not in form bounced back. Here’s a look at the successful and flop heroes of 2012.

Pawan Kalyan

In 2008, Pawan Kalyan scored a hit with ‘Jalsa’ and remained number 1 for that year. But after that he came down badly with three big flops in the form of ‘Puli’ ‘Teen Maar’ ‘Panjaa’. This brought down his range. But the rate at which he fell down he bounced back with super form through the film ‘Gabbar Singh’. He gave his career best, this year’s biggest hit and became the second best film after ‘Magadheera’ in Tollywood history. His other film ‘Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu’ didn’t meet expectations but openings rocked. Though it became an average flick, Pawan remained the ‘Star Of The Year’ for 2012.

Mahesh Babu

Mahesh Babu came to super form with ‘Dookudu’ and proved his star power with ‘Businessman’. Though ‘Businessman’ didn’t have material with just one man show he took the film to success. His future films also raise expectations. The lineup looks strong. 2013 will see two films of Mahesh and he is already in contention to become ‘Star Of 2013’. Unless the other stars score big they can’t compete with Mahesh’s Dookudu.

Ram Charan

The title logo of the film ‘Racha’ was designed in such a way that Ram Charan’s name was seen in it. True to that, Charan proved his stamina this year. To all those who doubted that his success came because of directors, Charan silenced them with ‘Racha’. Rajamouli stated that ‘Racha’ showed Charan’s star power. By converting an average flick to a hit, Charan joined the league of big heroes. That is why the pre-release business for his future films has hit the sky.

Allu Arjun

Allu Arjun is not rated among the top heroes but with ‘Julayi’ he proved that his films have strong commercial success range. Though Trivikram factor worked, Bunny’s crowd pulling capacity cannot be underestimated. With this film, he also reached stars list.

Jr NTR

From a long time, Jr NTR is not getting the right film. He has the stamina to create new records and has huge following. But no one is using his full potential. Here’s hoping that with ‘Baadshah’ he will show his ‘Dammu’. Same is the case with Prabhas who disappointed with ‘Rebel’ or else he has potential upto Rs 40 crores at box office. If he can prove that with ‘Mirchi’ what more can the fans ask for.

Flop hero of the year

If there is one year in his life that Ravi Teja wants to erase it would be 2012. He came with 4 films – Nippu, Daruvu, Saarocharu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu. None of them clicked. Moreover, they were termed as major duds and Ravi Teja’s craze came down. At least next year he should prove his form with ‘Balupu’ or else…

Seniors ‘Hawa’ going down

Tollywood has gone into young heroes hands. Senior heroes are history as their films are not attracting the crowds. Among them, Nagarjuna was somewhat better. ‘Shirdi Sai’ ‘Damarukam’ didn’t bring him bad name. Venkatesh got pass marks with ‘Bodyguard’. Balakrishna scored three consecutive flops. Even he can forget this year.

Comedy kings

Full length comedy flicks are reducing and only two men are running them, Allari Naresh and Sunil. Both proved their mettle. ‘Sudigadu’ ‘Poolarangadu’ scored big hits and in this genre, only these two are the kings. We will be seeing tough fight between two in future.

Great comeback

Nitin was no longer considered as a hero with his record breaking flops but he came back to form. He scored a hit with ‘Ishq’ and became busy. By doing films beyond his capabilities, Nitin has now discovered what’s best for him. So he may not face another slump anymore.

Annayya hit..Thammudu flop

Vishnu scored a hit after long time with ‘Dhenikaina Ready’. Manchu Manoj scored two flops with ‘Mr Nookayya’ ‘Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara’. Mohan Babu dreamt that Manoj will become a star with ‘Uu Kodathara..’ but scene got reversed.

Rana scored..Chaitu didn’t

Rana has created doubts on his acting skills and tasted two flops with films ‘Naa Ishtam’ ‘Department’. But he scored as an actor with ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’. But Naga Chaitanya scored zero this year. This year worked for Nani and big directors eyes fell on him. Ram came with only one film and it flopped. Audience is not caring about Srikanth, Jagapathi Babu.

Overall, in this year, some of them rocked while some of them flopped. If the flop actors can prove themselves in 2013, business will be good.
