With the state bifurcation issue, Telugu Desam Party has almost lost its ground in Telangana state. The party almost won majority of its seats in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy region where the settlers from Andhra Pradesh are more. In order to retain its existence, TDP wants to maintain its dominance over settlers’ areas and is not going to leave any stone unturned in that direction.
As a part of this, TDP is eyeing the Zilla Parishad Chairman post of Ranga Reddy. TDP has sizeable numbers in Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishads, its support is needed for TRS or Congress to get hold of ZP Chairman posts in all the three ZPs. TDP has given bumper offer to both the parties to give them Ranga Reddy ZP Chairman and take support of them in all the three ZPs.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao did not like this idea at all. He do not want to give TDP a chance to consolidate in Ranga Reddy district. He told his district level leader at most to offer Vice Chairman posts in all the three Zilla Parishads. However TDP is not at all interested in this deal. On the other side, TDP is waiting for Congress’ response regarding the issue. If Congress also refuses the offer, TDP will decide up on the future course of action. TDP will continue its camps for ZP members till the election is complete.
