Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has stepped up lobbying for Sops to Telangana state. In order to get benefits on par with the successor state of Andhra Pradesh, KCR has met PM Narendra Modi on Saturday in New Delhi and demanded special category status for T-state. KCR reportedly sought a package and financial assistance for the new state. The TRS chief also urged the prime minister to withdraw the ordinance transferring 205 villages in Khammam district of Telangana to Andhra Pradesh as part of construction of the Polavaram irrigation project.
KCR submitted a detailed memorandum to Modi which has 14 specific demands for T-State. He also sought national status to Paranahita Chevella irrigation project, TRS sources said. Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a tweet: “Telangana CM Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao & a delegation of 11 MPs met the PM in New Delhi.” The Telangana chief minister also called on President Pranab Mukherjee. The moot question now is Will Modi grant special status to Telangana? How Modi is gonna react on demands of KCR, the person who called him “Yelliaha”, “Pulliaha” and thus belittled him. This need to be wait and watch.
