Congress president Sonia Gandhi has reportedly taken a decision not to campaign on behalf of the Congress party in Seemandhra region with reports of a strong backlash following the bifurcation of the State.
Sources say that Congress leaders, especially those of some sitting MPs and till recently union ministers have been appealing to the Congress president to campaign for them here for the upcoming elections, but Sonia has reportedly said a polite no. Even party loyalists such as Central Minister Panabaka Lakshmi reportedly persuaded Sonia to visit her Bapatla Lok Sabha constituency but Sonia didn’t oblige her adding that she cannot enter Seemandhra at all.
Sources also add that as per some intelligence inputs, she has been advised not to visit Seemandhra with chances that crowds may get enraged. This is very much true because the Seemandhra people can never forgive Sonia and Congress for what they did.
