In a jolt to PM Narendra Modi, the incumbent BJP has shown poor performance in the bypolls held in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Telangana.
Uttar Pradesh : In UP, Samajwadi Party has thrashed BJP in 9 seats out of 11 seats which were earlier bagged by BJP in Lok Sabha polls. BJP managed to secure only 2 seats. BJP has won record 71 Lok Sabha seats in 2014 in the state. Political analysts predict that “Love Jihad” has played spoilsport for BJP in the state. Many opine that people have “rejected” BJP’s ideology of “Hindutva”.
Gujarat :  Though BJP is leading in Modi’s hometurf Gujarat, Opposition Congress won two seats. Congress has won the seats of Deesa and Mangrol in the state in what is going to be a worry for the BJP. However, BJP is leading in six of the nine seats.
Rajasthan :  In Rajasthan the situation is totally in favour of Congress as it is leading in 3 of the four seats that went to polls. Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot is rejoicing the victory and said the Congress is beginning to restore its faith among people.
Telangana :  The situation is no different in Telangana as TRS is leading in Medak bypoll which was vacated by K. Chandrasekhar Rao. BJP candidate Jagga Reddy is trailing behind TRS candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy. Congress is lagging behind both BJP and TRS in the state. Looks like, the unilateral bifurcation has given death blow to Congress.
