Seems like, Hyderabadi Saina Nehwal is hurt with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governments. The Star Indian shuttler is yet to receive Rs.50 lakh cash award promised by Andhra Pradesh state government for winning the bronze medal at 2012 London Olympics.
The then chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Kumar Reddy announced the cash award for Saina while congratulating her personally on winning the Olympic medal.
The 24-year-old, who skipped the Glasgow Commonwealth Games congratulated tennis star Sania Mirza for being named as the brand ambassador of India’s 29th and newt state Telangana.
Curiously, Saina’s comments came after Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced a Rs.1 crore cash grant for Telangana new brand ambassador Sania towards her training.
Saina said, “I am happy to know that Sania Mirza has become the brand ambassador of Telangana and I am proud of telangana but I am very hurt and sad that I have still not received the cash award from my state for the Olympic bronze medal that I won for my country.”
Telangana chief minister K Chandrsekhar Rao’s son and IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao stated, “We’ll ensure that this issue is brought to CM’s notice and sorted out soon. We are proud of you (Saina) and all other Olympians from our state.”
Saina Nehwal later thanked KTR for his response.
