The first Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao has successfully completed 100-day-run of his government. Since his swearing in on June 2, KCR has initiated, approved major schemes and took crucial decisions on various 100 issues.

Be it Polavaram row or Farm loan waiver, or Fee-reimbursement issue or Gurukul Trust land or Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, KCR had stirred up a lot of controversies but all began to slowly go down the drain. And the recent controversy being Intensive Household Survey (IHS) also later turned out to be damp squib. And the issue of statues on Tank Bund too back on table and created stir but soon it has been pushed away.

Above all, the blockage of news channels TV9 and ABN is one major controversy that is still continue to haunt KCR government. Although KCR, time and again, passing the buck towards Telangana MSOs, the big question is why KCR hasn’t taken any initiative so far and held talks with MSOs. All this giving scope to speculation that he was “behind” the whole episode.

Balance Act

But KCR has changed a lot especially over the last month. In order to balance the controversies he sparked off, KCR buried the hatchet with Mr Naidu and called for truce. Call it a GHMC election stunt, he has slowed down on alleged “illegal” constructions in Gurukul Trust land and others. He veered towards wooing investors, roping in MNCs. His recent visit to Singapore says that all. KCR now eyeing to improve the facilities, infrastructure. He assured to realtors that reality sector would be back with a bang.

KCR is coming up with a scheme for T-students- FAST (Finance Assistance for Students of Telangana), at the same time, he agreed to regularise the services of about 20,000 contract workers and gave his consent to pay Rs 404.58 crore input subsidy to farmers. KCR vowed 12 per cent reservations to minorities, 3 per cent for Christians and STs to get reservation in education, employment. He also trying to bring massive reforms in police department like providing new equipment, convoy to cops and likely to introduce new uniform (if possible) and swift measures in crime, law and order.

KCR announced 3-acre land to dalits, withdrawal of cases against separate Telangana protagonists, a special Telangana increment to government employees and Rs 51,000 marriage grant for poor Muslim brides are in offing.

Verdict: Considering that he’s first-time CM, he has showed good performance, nevertheless, there is still a long way to go.
