Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju asked the district officials to study the feasibility of a portion of land belonging to Mansas Educational Trust, which was run by Vizianagaram Royal Family, used to set up the Tribal University in Pedakancheru village near Araku, Visakha.
Mr Raju mentioned 400 acres of 3,370 acres available land in Pedakancheru village belongs to his Royal family-run Trust which is willing donate 200 acres out of it for the Tribal University. He ordered district administration to conduct a survey of the land and the scope for building the proposed University in this place before he discusses the matter with State and Central Governments. He opined, ‘Tribal University would benefit the students of AP, Odisha and Chattisgarh’.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju is a 7-time MLA and got elected to Parliament from Vizianagaram for the first time in the recent polls. He is also the only TDP MP to be inducted into Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
