Starting his career as a part-time anchor, then a singer and then he transformed into a music director. He is none other than Raghu Kunche who is trying to cement his position as composer in Tollywood and is waiting for that eluding big break.
Songs like ‘Endukey Ramanamma’ from Bumper Offer and ‘Subba Lakshmi’ from Devudu Chesina Manushulu always stand tall among Raghu’s impressive music compositions for Tollywood. The singer cum music director however has a different take on Telugu composers giving not many chances to local singers but depending on Bombay and Chennai vocalists. People like DSP, Thaman and Micky J Meyer accompany lot of non-Telugu singers to sing Telugu songs, and here goes the remarks of Raghu Kunche justifying such acts.
‘When Telugu singers are called to recording studios for crooning, they pose various questions about programmer of song, flute player, mixing engineer, and who is singing rest of songs in album and other details. But if non-locals like Chitra, Shreya Goshal, Udith Narayan, Adnan Sami are called, they stay focused and get inputs from music director to bring more life and spice to the track they are singing. They don’t bother about other scrap details’, said Raghu Kunche, pointing out the lack of concentration among local singers.
This remark didn’t do well with some local singers, directors and other music director who say that non-local singers simply try to flatter music directors but do nothing better than a native Telugu singer. We have to see if anyone openly comes out to oppose or mean Raghu Kunche’s stark remarks. He made his point already.
