The censor formalities of Naga Chaitanya Akkineni’s upcoming romantic drama ‘Premam’ have been completed a while ago on September 27 and the film has been granted U/A certificate.

‘Premam’ is the official Telugu Remake of blockbuster a 2015 Malayalam film with the same title. The original coming-of-age romantic drama has reportedly been recreated by the Telugu makers. However, the surprising part is while the Malayalam version received U certificate, the alleged scene-to-scene remake with Telugu actors was awarded U/A certificate.

No one has a clue about what sort of rules the Censor Board members follow to award different certificates for almost same films. Probably, the Malayalam board is a bit more lenient than its Telugu counterpart. Thankfully, Telugu ‘Premam’ has reportedly been passed without any cuts.

Starring Anupama Parameswaran, Shruti Haasan and Madonna Sebastian as the female leads, ‘Premam’ is directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Rajesh Murugesan, who scored music for the original Malayalam film has also composed music to Telugu film in association with Gopi Sundar.

The film will hit screens on October 7.
