Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr N Raghuveera Reddy accepted full responsibility for party’s dismal performance in Seemandhra region.
“It is unfortunate that the Congress was unable to win even a single seat in Seemandhra region. However, I wish TDP all success for the formation of new government and hope that it would work for the welfare of the people. Although the party had no representation in the Assembly, we would raise people’s issues in the Legislative Council. I thank the party candidates who contested from 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats despite knowing well that Congress had very less chances of winning the elections. Abiding by the party’s decision, they contested and approached the people. Though the people have rejected them, the Congress party would again visit them to convince them about their version of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and efforts would be made to win back their hearts,” Raghuveera said.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah has also accepted the defeat in the general elections. “Party needs to introspect the reasons that led to the defeat. i am given very little time to work for the party immediately after the passing of Telangana Bill in Parliament. However, Congress party would play the role of a constructive opposition and arty would be strengthened at all levels,” Ponnala said.
