US President Barack Obama has recently met Burma’s Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi at her home where she had been detained under house arrest for over 15-long -years ( July 20, 1989 to Nov 13, 2010). Obama met her and declared his support for Suu Kyi ahead of presidential elections in Burma.

Meanwhile, Obama came down heavily on Burma and pitched for its move towards democracy as a ruling of the country is preventing Suu Kyi from running for President post as her children belongs to British. ‘I dont understand a provision that would bar somebody from running for president because of who their children are,’ Obama said in his speech. Obama has put pressure on Burma leaders to amend the constitution, however, he played it safe by not directly endorsing Suu Kyi for the president post.

Aung San Suu Kyi is tall leader from Burma and a prominent political figure in the world and world’s most well-known political prisoner. She has received Nobel Peace Prize too.Aung San Suu Kyi, released four years ago after more than two decades of confinement, is a member of Burma’s parliament but is unable to run in next year’s presidential election because of Myanmar’s constitutional provision.
