Looks like, all is not well in Tollywood. Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and carving out of Telangana is going to have its adverse affects on the film industry despite the stars, producers putting up a brave face. Fresh dispute is now brewing over Film Chamber’s name as Telanagana directors, producers want it to be renamed after Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce and building in Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills be handed over to them.
The board meeting of AP Film Chamber of Commerce, which held on Saturday, turned out to be chaotic. Various directors, producers from Telangana State have staged a protest in front of Chamber demanding for the change of name. T-filmmakers want every sector of film industry to be bifurcated as new State is carved out.
“The change of name is a huge, tedious process. It also needs to go through many levels at national level. What’s there in the name?” said a producer from Andhra region. Telangana filmmakers had heated argument with soft-toned actor-producer Vallabha, son of top producer KS Rama Rao, on this.
