Nayaki Movie Review

Sentiment, a word that is overheard among the circles of film industry. After the humongous success of Anushka starrer Arundhathi, many movie came with the same formula. Some worked and some not. Prema Katha Chitram came with adding humor element to horror element which became a super success at box office and many innumerable films came in that genre in which some failed miserably at box office while some become super success. Latest addition to that list is Thrisha starrer Nayaki, which is a bilingual directed by Govi.

Story:

A house is haunted by Gayatri (Trisha Krishnan) in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Sanjay (Satyam Rajesh) and Sandhya (Sushma Raj) goes on a small picnic like vacation away from the city. After the series of incidents they end up in the haunted house, which is posessed by Gayatri. They both settle there without knowing that. As happens in all the movies, Gaytri starts scaring the couple to hell and create problems in their lives. Who is Gayatri?? What is the story behind her?? Why is she haunted that house?? How the couple survived her forms the rest of the story.

Cast and Technicalities:

Trisha Krishnan is said to be the main highlight of the movie. She has done a fantabulous job with her role and has excelled in every single emotion that is given to her. She is an asset to this Nayaki. Satyam Rajesh is terrfic once again in this movie. As he has some negative shades in his character he did superb job in evoking comedy. He rocked in the same way he do in his previous movies. Sushma Raj is nice in his innocent role. She is a well fit for her role. Other artists are well fit in their characters.

Story line of Nayaki is quite routine and old. Screenplay is mediocre and dialogues are okay. Songs composed by Raghu Kunche are just okay. The song for which Thrisha Krishnan rendered voice is nice. He did fine job with background score. Visuals rendered by Jagadeesh are nice and he has given authentic look for this horror comedy. Editing is okay and has lot more to do in the second half. Production values are good.

Plus:

  • Trisha Krishnan as Gayathri
  • Satyam Rajesh as Sanjay

Minus:

  • Routine Story
  • Second Half

Verdict:

As we have seen in many horror comedy movies this movie has nothing new to offer in terms if story and content. It begins with the introduction of haunted house in the outskirts of Hyderabad by Gayathri played by Trisha Krishnan. She has the same pathetic flashback she is deceived by someone and she becomes ghost to take revenge and creating problems for the people who come into the house she is haunted by. This movie seems to be just made to cash in the name of horror comedy. Director Govi has done a good job in showcasing Trisha in a very novel and never seen way. This is one aspect where he is succeeded to a greater extent. But he failed in creating the same with story and screenplay. It has neither horror element nor comedy element. This movie is just to showcase talent of Trisha and cashing in horror comedy genre. Screenplay is largely predictable and the makers should have taken care of it. Whenever something different is tried in the routine content people respect them despite of the fate or result of the movie. To sum up, watch this movie if you are a Trisha fan and has extra bucks in your pocket.
