Apparently, Anandiben Patel who was a former school principal is the longest serving BJP Minister in Gujarat. She joined BJP in the year 1987 and went on to become the party’s women wing president. In 1994, she became a Rajya Sabha member. She was elected as MLA for the first time from Mandal constituency in Ahmedabad in 1998 and became minister for Education, Child & Women Welfare. Later, She handled important portfolios like revenue and urban development.
Even when Modi was busy campaigning across the country, it was Anandiben Patel who led the group of ministers to run the government in Gujarat. She is known to be a good administrator, strict disciplinarian and tough task master. Hence, Modi choose Anandiben Patel as his replacement!
