Chandrababu Naidu while briefing the media about the relief efforts said that in order to control inflation, vegetables from all across the state will be bought and the prices of these are also fixed by the government. Perishable vegetables will be sold at Rs 3/kg whereas onions and potatoes at Rs 5/kg. He said Navy, police and all officials were instructed to clear off the roads by tomorrow.
He said Visakhapatnam has suffered unimaginable loss. According to figures Navy has suffered around Rs 200 crore loss. As the loss is severe Chandrababu said he is finding it hard to give the right estimate to the PM. Vizag steel plant has suffered around Rs 300 crore loss and because of non production due to power crisis, on a daily basis Rs 30 crore is lost. They need immediate power supply. He said that he is very harsh and strict with officials to restore normalcy and in fact sent police to bring in officials who have not come to attend his meeting. He said that people trying to capitalize on peoplesâ€™ suffering will be dealt with iron hand.
MLAs along with officials and police will go to the slums and distribute food to avoid complaints. He also directed all the teams coming to help to be self sufficient by bringing their own vehicle and arranging for their food. The CM said that he already spoke with insurance companies to relieve the industries from suffering.
Chandrababu said that the prime minister has shown his concern right from the beginning and the cabinet secretary has been in constant touch understanding the situation.
