The National Security Agency of the United States has been spying on Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) the ruling party leading NDA government, claims former NSA contractor and whistle blower Edward Snowden in a leaked classified document.
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, under a 2010 certification, authorized NSA to spy on 193 foreign governments and many other entities including the main oposition party in India, the Express Tribune reports. NSA spy operation excluded Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand due to their no-spying arrangements.
Besides the Narender Modi led BJP (Modi was denied a Visa to US till he became PM) the NSA also reported on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) from Pakistan. Amal movement of Lebanon, Bolivaria Continental Coordinator, Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood and the National Salvation Front.
Apart from foreign organizations, political parties and governments, NSA also asked to spy on international bodies like the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Monetary Fund etc.
