Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order get first hand report on the devastation surveyed the cyclone affected Visakhapatnam yesterday along with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In the high level meeting after the survey Modi said that he was shocked to see the response from the Hudhud victims.
Usually when a region is devastated by a calamity, people in the region vent their anger and anguish at the officials but residents of Visakhapatnam having no power and water supply for the past 36 hours still were very cordial and graceful to the prime minister. Modi said people thronged the streets and were on roof tops waiting for him and this behavior has surprised him.
Modi even mentioned about this to Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on board his flight to Delhi. He even said he is indebted to Vizag people. Modi further added that the people are happy with the efforts taken by the Centre and state governments.
