The Hyderabad Metrol required a whopping 520 lakh units of power annually which could become another major hurdle in its operation in Telangana state which is already struggling under acute power deficit.

The 72 km long three corridor metro rail is all set to be operational by end of 2014 or beginning of 2015 and the operators L & T and Hyderabad metro rail have been approaching governments for concessional power rates on the lines of Delhi, Mumbai and Delhi.

In spite of its hurdles in implementation of the Rs.12000 crore elevated railway project, the Hyderabad metro rail has achieved a record of completing 1000 viaduct spans in just in 20 months. ‘It took seven years to complete 11 km of metro route in Mumbai and five years to complete 25 km of metro track in Chennai and Bangalore,’ said MD of Hyderabad metro rail N.V.S.Reddy.
