An unknown person has been taken into custody by Hyderabad City Police for trespassing into the high-security Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly building. The suspect has been identified as Srinivas Reddy, a resident of Road No 10, Jubilee Hills. He is suspected to have entered the Assembly premises along with three-four persons on Tuesday night. He entered into the building through the legislators’ entry point and broke the window panes.

A security guard spotted him and alerted the police. It was not clear how the man managed to sneak through the three-layer security at the main gate and reached up to the legislators’ entrance. Investigations are on to ascertain the reasons why they entered the Assembly premises. Police suspect that theft could be one of the reasons for trespass although there are no valuable articles or cash in the Assembly premises.

The trespassers have reportedly entered the Old Assembly building which has been allotted for residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. With the incident, the security lapses in the assembly have come to the fore. The police took the person into their custody and are questioning. Congress legislator from Telangana P. Sudhakar Reddy said the security had failed to protect the premises. “If the legislature is not safe, what will be the security of common man,” he asked.
