Beleaguered YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has knocked the doors of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad over withdrawing Z Category security to him. Claiming that his life is under “threat”, Jagan appealed to the High Court to direct the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to revoke the Z Category security to him. A petition on the same has been filed in the court by Jagan.

In the petition, Jagan alleged that the governments have withdrawn his Z Category security without any prior information. And he said, instead, he was given (1+1) personal security and (1+1) chief security officer. Appealing to continue his Z Category security, which has been in place since 3 years, Jagan asserted that he has a threat from Maoists.

“I’ve been provided with Z Category security even after the death of my father YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The incumbent Chief Minister and then Opposition leader Chandra Babu Naidu too got same Z Category security. And there are several other politicians who are provided with the same security. As an Opposition leader, I hold a Cabinet rank. Notwithstanding that I’ve threat from Maoists, my Z Category security has been withdrawn on Sep 13 and I didn’t receive any information on this till now. As leader of Opposition and president of YSR Congress Party, I travel in both states and reside in Hyderabad. Only for political reasons, the governments of the both states have withdrawn my security,” said Jagan in his petition.

Jagan claimed that the State government has information from Investigation agencies that his life is under threat. The Home Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Telanagana, DGP of AP, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Cuddapah Superintend of Police, and state-level security committees have been named as respondents in his petition. Meanwhile, Jagan’s uncle and Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy to filed a petition in High Court as government has withdrawn his (2+2) security in Hyderabad and given (1+1) security in Ongole.
