Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-deisgnate Nara Chandra Babu Naidu’s life is said to be in danger. Kollam Gangi Reddy, who is the main accused in the assassination attack on Babu in April 2003 and accused in several other criminal cases, red sanders smuggling, has managed to fled away from India. Kollam Gangi Reddy is the mastermind behind smuggling activities in Seshachalam Hills and has close relations with international smugglers, mafia. He is presently out on bail from AP High Court. Going by reports, Gangi Reddy is now residing in Dubai. He was arrested only after continuous persuasion by TDP top brass. All these above circumstances suggest that there is serious threat to Chandra Babu’s life. Chandra Babu to felt the same and wrote a letter to Governor.
In his letter to Governor ESL Narsimhan, Babu said, “Despite the information that Sri Kollam Gangi Reddy is threat to me, the police have failed to keep a watch on the accused and allowed him to escape to Dubai. The inefficient and irresponsible police administration in AP has led to the escape of Gangi Reddy who was released on the bail.”Chandra Babu requested Governor to direct DGP to take immediate steps to arrest the culprit and evern urged to issue “red corner” notice if needed. Babu said, “Since the accused had jumped bail, his properties should be confiscated according to criminal procedure code. Necessary disciplinary action should be taken against the officials.”
Chandra babu suspected, “I strongly suspected that his escape is not a casual occurence. There appears to be a political scheming behind his escape. Therefore, this entire sequence of events need to be probed in oder to trace the nexus between Sri Kollam Gangi Reddy and persons or parties behind his escape and public are informed about his criminal activities.” Babu asked Governor to take serious steps to avert smuggling activities in the region. He even issued few guidelines to Governor to curb illegal activities.
