Deputy CM K E Krishnamurthy has expressed displeasure over Vijayawada being made the temporary capital of the state and said that Vijayawada had only 500 acres of govt land available near by for development of the needs of the new capital even though a temporary one.
KEK told reporters at the assembly that the government had gathered data on land availability near every district town and Nellore and Kurnool topped the list. While Vijayawada has just 500 acres, Kurnool has 5000 acres and Nellore has 5823. Guntur has only 2012 and Krishna has only 3247, Eluru has 79 acres and Rajahmundry -204 , Vizag as 2473, Srikakulam-177 and Vizianagaram-581, Chittoor-2050 and Ananatpur-4250, and Kadapa-689 acres.
Deputy CM said Vijayawada was a very congested town built almost 700 years ago and its development has been stunted by group politics of several CM’s and ministers of congress period. ‘There is not much government and available between Guntur and Vijayawada even for development on a temporary basis.
