Telangana Chief Minister KCR, who is known for his wittiness and vision, has shocked one and all with his latest statement to build two more airports in Hyderabad. Yes, it is bolt out of the blue from someone of KCR’s stature. Already Hyderabad possess an international airport with global standards RGIA in Shamshabad and now efforts are being made to connect the city well with Metro Rail.
Truth to be told, two more airports may not be necessary for Hyderabad. Even metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi have only one airport. Citing the proposed ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region), KCR directed authorities to chalk out a plan to develop two more airports in Hyderabad. This is raising many eyebrows.
The fact of the matter is that growth, development is concentrated, centrally located in Hyderabad. It’s all exclusive growth but not inclusive. Rather than setting up two more airports in Hyderabad, KCR should have opted to set up in other districts of Telangana. Political analysts feel that KCR is doing “same” mistake as previous Chief Ministers who developed capital city alone. Also, many pavements, roads in twin cities and other parts of the state are in poor condition. Given that rainy season has started, it is going to further worsen the situation.
Now that Telangana is reality, it’s time to move on and develop other districts of Telangana as well on par with Hyderabad.
