It seems to be the season of high tension for Seemandhra people and politicians in Telangana. After Nagarjuna’s N convention becoming a target cited as illegal construction, there are fears whether Lanco would be next.
Lanco Hills, owned by former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal is a prestigious housing venture on 104 acre site which he had won in an auction of lands by APIIC during YSR’s tenure. TRS government is insistent that it is Manikonda jagir land which comes under Wakf board.
Sources say that the land was transferred from jagirdar system to AP government during unification in 1956 and wakf board was created only after that. At the same time previous YSR government has become a party to this case in Supreme Court where the government mentioned that it is not wakf land.
In case TRS petitions SC saying that as a government now it considers it wakf board land, then many IT companies, which have owned this land like Infosys and Microsoft, should also quit their offices located here while Telangana government has to reportedly pay thousands of crores to all of them including Lanco as compensation!
