Whenever the name Vijayawada is heard, the strong impression is that the Kamma community domination is high. Some feel the Kamma population is also high and that is the reason they also control those regions. Truth is, in the residuary Andhra Pradesh, Kammas are very less than Reddys.

The ratio stands at 6:10 between a Kamma and Reddy. Of course, it is also true that there is a tough competition between both and they grew strongly as parallel forces politically and otherwise. Now, in terms of the new capital, caste game has played a key role.

Donakonda at Prakasam district was Reddys attempt because Reddy population is high. It is on the border of Andhra and Rayalaseema. Even before elections, strong trials happened thinking YSRCP will come to power but now the capital issue has been clarified and declared. At the end of the day, both Kammas and Reddys are big in their own ways. If YSRCP came into power, Donakonda may have been the capital but it was just a tale of fortunes and fate.
