With people of Andhra Pradesh giving a clear mandate to TDP in the recently held polls, beleaguered YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is left with no choice but to make up his mind to sit in the Opposition in Assembly. Quite contrary to it, fear is looming large for Jagan, YSR Congress. Although, Jagan is putting up a brave face in public and media, underneath among party leaders, his own family members there is an eerie of silence, fear. Amid reports that Enforcement Directorate would be after him very soon and has got substantial evidence to put Jagan behind the bars, YSRCP top brass, including Jagan, is deeply worried over who will wield the party “if he is back to jail”. Who will take on Chandra Babu Naidu in the house of Legislative Assembly if Jagan is in jail? Who is the alternative to carry off the party on his/her shoulders?
According to highly-placed sources, Jagan is deeply mulling over to send YS Sharmila to Assembly. Jagan is reportedly planning to field his sister in the by-polls of Allagadda Assembly as the candidate Bhuma Shobha Nagireddy passed away in a fatal accident days before the election. Although, Jagan does have plans to put his mother-honorary president YS Vijayamma in fray for the Assembly, given that she tasted a huge defeat after contesting from Vizag parliament, she may not be considered to be in fray from Allagadda. Jagan must have reminisced his old days he spent in jail and how Sharmila worked for the party. But why didn’t Jagan offer Sharmila Vizag Lok Sabha seat? Why he feared that Sharmila would be another power-centre in the party? Now that he may go to jail, he again want to rope in his sister for his selfish reasons. Won’t they send wrong signals to people?
Keeping all the political equations aside, the big question on everyone’s lips is What about offering ticket to Shobha Nagireddy’s elder daughter from the Allagadda constituency in by-polls? If the bereaved family would not get the ticket and contrary Jagan’s family who are non-locales contest the polls, there are chances that “Shobha Nagireddy” sentiment would work against YSRCP. Moreover, since TDP is in power, there are more chances for people to incline towards TDP for better governance, development, opine political pundits. Also, the fact that Nandyala MP SPY Reddy joined TDP and Kurnool MP Butta Renuka joining TDP, there is going to have its affect on voters in Allagadda. Considering all the above, one thing is pretty clear: Jagan has prepared a Plan B if he goes to jail. The only weapon, plan, option he has now is YS Sharmila whom he can trust.
