Jagan Fails as Leader?

Time and again the leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is “failing” to prove himself as leader as he is unable to manage or control his own army of MLAs, MPs, MLCs and senior leaders. Already top brass of YSRCP has parted their ways. While few had quit before elections, others choose to quit post elections. Be it Raghuram Krishnam Raju or Sabbam Hari or Jupudi Prabhakar Rao or Nandyala MP SPY Reddy, the “quitters” list goes on and on and on. The latest to join this bandwagon is Araku MP Kothapalli Geetha.

Frustrated with the way party is being run, Geetha is on the verge of quitting. She met TDP supremo Chandra Babu on Tuesday in New Delhi and expressed her dissent over her own party. Geetha made it clear that she is “disappointed” over the way her party reacted in the issue of obscene posts on her in social platforms. She openly stated that she would work along with TDP MPs here after and said even ready to face anti-defection law and ready to contest on TDP ticket. Geetha made it clear that “development” is possible only with TDP.

And the situation is no different in Telangana. Although, YSRCP is almost zero in Telangana state, it is losing its “remaining” popular faces as well. Recently, daughter of PJR P. Vijaya Reddy has quit YSRCP and joined TRS. Khammam leader-Vyra MLA Madanlal is all set to jump into TRS fold from YSRCP.

Not just the elected leaders, even the people within his own family were once “fed up” of Jagan’s behaviour, attitude. YS Sharmila, who extensively toured and worked day and night when Jagan was jailed, was kept away from party activities and she was denied ticket in elections apparently “fearing” that she would “overtake” him in the fame. Above all, his mother-party honorary president YS Vijayamma losing out in Vizag Parliament itself says that Jagan failed as a leader. Contrary to his dad-late CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy who had won the hearts of masses on the plank of “honesty” and “faith”, Jagan turned out to be big loser.

All these examples say that Jagan is no leader material. Except craving for power, Jagan hardly fought for people. Thanks to Election Commission of India for “recognizing” YSR Congress Party that brought anti-defection law into force else Jagan’s party would have become history by now. It’s time for Jagan to realize what went wrong and to correct his mistakes. Though damage has been done, it’s better late than never.
