Telangana Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao’s proposal to make Hyderabad a complete Wifi enabled city got first jolt with The Federation of Aerial Cable Operators (FACO), representing internet cable operators who strongly opposed the State Government’s proposal. FACO met KTR and personally asked him to reconsider the plan.
These operators pointed out that Reliance has offered six-months free service if Hyderabad is converted into Wifi Zone. Such a move would affect the livelihood of nearly 30, 000 families who are dependent on internet cable operators. Government should take the services of all cable operators and restrain from taking any measures that leads to unemployment.
KTR assured FACO delegation that TRS Government would not take any step in haste and all stake holders would be taken into confidence before implementing any plan. He also clarified that the government had no role in the offer made by Reliance.
