Former TN CM Jayalalitha is a shrewd politician and can converse in many languages. She thought with these qualities no one can catch her and had been under the same impression for more than 18 years.
However when she was sent to jail by Bangalore special court and bail plea too rejected she was in for a shock. According to the sources her vineyard in hyderabad gave in Jayalalitha. Jayalalitha in her IT returns claimed that she earned 50.50 lakhs during 1991-96 from he vineyard spread over 14.50 acres in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad.
However during prosecution investigation it was found that her claims were wrong. TN investigation agencies and ACB conducted investigations and when R.Latha and P.Kodareddy and other agriculture officials conducted surveys they found that all her affidavits were wrong.
Along with their reports even the report of IT deputy commissioner of Jeedimetla became crucial evidences in Court’s judgement. It came out that out of 14.50 acres vineyards were cultivated in only 10 acres and remaining land was used for other purposes.
Reports indicated that one cannot earn so much profits growing two types of grapes and IT officials in their report felt that it was impossible to earn more than 20 lakhs per acre and grape gardens were present only in 4.86 acres while in remaining land coconut and other vegetables were cultivated. Judge felt that Jaya didnot show correct Incomes on her lands and she only provided estimates and didnot maintain proper records.
