For the first time in the history of India, seven women ministers are present in a PM’s cabinet. Along with PM Narendra Modi, 6 women have taken oath as Union Cabinet Ministers, and one woman as Minister of State with independent charge. This is one reason enough to call Modi’s cabinet ‘excellent’.
Along with prominent BJP big-wig Sushma Swaraj who is likely to become Minister of External Affairs, Menaka Gandhi, Uma Bharathi, Najma Heptulla, Smriti Irani, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Nirmala Sitaraman (MoS) have sworn-in on Monday evening at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Reacting on this Cabinet of Narendra Modi, many political experts rated it with ‘five’ stars for the main reason that lot of women are given unequivocal preference by the Prime Minister. What else is needed to say that Women empowerment will be on a high in the BJP regime?
The inclusion of late Sanjay Gandhi’s wife Menaka Gandhi is surely a finger in the eye moment for Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and family who took huge dig at Menaka and her son Varun during the poll campaigns.
