The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed Election Commission to reveal the results of recently held (March 30, 2014) Civic Polls in State on April 9. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar asked EC to count the votes and declare the results of municipalities, municipal corporations on April 9 itself. As per schedule, the results was supposed to be revealed on April 2.

The Bench directed EC while dealing with two PILs (Public Interested Litigation) filed by one Bukya Saida and three others, and another V Venkateswara Rao, contending that the announcement of results of civic bodies will affect, determine voting in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Petitioners urged EC, HC to postpone the results of Civic bodies till May 7.

Now, the petitioners are mulling over to move the Supreme Court against High Court’s order. With none other than HC giving its order, SC may mostly upheld the order. Considering that Municipal Polls results would reveal the pulse of people, mood of voters, these results could help us predict who is going to win in Assembly, Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
