The TRS government plans for the house hold survey on August 19th is not all about exposing the truth about ground realities of welfare scams in the state. It has more than face value of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The idea of ascertaining the nativity of the residents during the survey appears to have been an afterthought. In the initial questionnaire with 80 querries prepared by the Telangana government for the survey, there was no question on nativity. But in the revised questionnaire that made the rounds of the media on Thursday, a new question (No. 21) has been added. The question has three parts: 1) From which state have you come?; 2) What language do you speak and 3) When did you come here?.
That apart the questionnaire wants you to trace your antecedents, heritage to any location in present Telagnana or pre-Telagnana (Hyderabad state). In a nut shell nativity is just a cover to delay the tuition fee reimbursements and the counseling exercise. The revenue department has changed the questionnaire twice and added more and more queries which were originally 35 and now become 80 plus. ‘This survey will be multipurpose- medical, passport, household, census, Moor tax, property tax , family size, native village, land, insurance, PNR, bank details, vehicles etc.
According to a financial expert the hidden agenda of household survey is to assess the wealth of outsiders and Andhra’s living in Hyderabad particularly to increase professional and property taxes and also other service taxes, it is said.
