Telangana senior BJP leader and Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao was said to be injured and hurt as the Congress MLAs tried to block his entry into legislature complex on the first day of the Assembly session and gheraoed his convoy. Vidyasagar Rao’s left hand was injured when Congress legislators tried to barge into podium and pull out speech copy from his hand as Vidyasagar Rao was making his maiden speech in Maha assembly. This resulted in injury to Vidyasgar Rao.
‘Governor’s left hand was injured. The issue does not end with an apology. This should not be tolerated,’ revenue minister Eknath Khadse said. Khadse said he wanted to move a resolution suspending these members for unruly behaviour. Speaker Haribhau Bagde adjourned the house for 30 minutes and later after meeting group leaders, he declared that he is suspending five congress MLAs for two years.
Congress leader in the House Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said there was no intention to cause hurt to anyone, but he would apologise. Later suspended MLAs claimed that they would ‘resign’ and again go back to ‘people’ for elections.
