After doing a massive Intensive Household Survey successfully, the government of Telangana is now eyeing to do an Intensive Land Survey. As per the sources, Government will do the survey post Diwali (October 23). The objective of the survey is to segregate illegal encroachments from the rest and set right the revenue records in Telangana that were based on the land survey conducted by the Nizam government in 1938. All private, government, assigned, endowment and Wakf lands will be surveyed.

As per the reports received by government from District Collectors, 12,700 acre of government land worth Rs 60,500 crore has been encroached by “land sharks” across the state while majority lands are said to be encroached in and around capital city. Going into details, the extent of land encroachment in Hyderabad alone has been estimated at 411 acre to the tune of Rs 35,000 crore. And reports are rife that most of these lands are under control of several political, prominent personalities.

In a startling  revelation, reports detected that about 8,500 acre of government land in municipalities across the state is under encroachment and another 8,000 acre in mandals spread over nine Telangana districts. Veering towards Hyderabad, 411 acre in 367 locations is under encroachment with Shaikpet mandal topping the list with 25 encroachment cases. We hear that these numbers would increase drastically, if Intensive Land Survey is conducted. So get ready for the next big land survey.
